Thomas Plenert (1.2.1951-15.7.2023) studied camera at the GDR Academy of Film and Television in Babelsberg and the State Film and Theatre Academy in Łódź. From the 1970s onwards, he made a name for himself as a documentary cameraman in GDR times, working with renowned directors such as Jürgen Böttcher, Lothar Warneke and Helke Misselwitz. From 1988, Plenert was behind the camera for almost all of the films by Volker Koepp. In addition to his documentary work, Plenert occasionally served as cinematographer for feature and television films.
